Usually I am comfortable with the original past performance files because I like every horse’s
five running pattern races with same or different jockeys, drop/same/upper class, short or
long distance, track swith, dirt/turf switch, etc.

Currently, it is very hard for me to look at the speed map file, still do not figure out any meaning code/figure/data, etc.

Dear Sir,
It is very useful and effective.

I wonder if sectional times (in excel format ( each setional time at different column) could be included for detailed understanding as well as situational condition at each races of the particular pace. It is going to save resourses and times for more accurate analysis of the capability and suitability of the horse at the particular pace of the race.

Under equalisation handicapped capacitiy the favourable condition of “P” on pace or “C” closer would stand a better chance. Please advise.

Further to this blog and the News Item posted in our NEWS section
( http://www.hkracingform.com/news.php ) several trainers have commented on their charges’ chances on rain-affected surfaces :

O’Sullivan said about FELLOWSHIP’s chances in the National Day Cup race : “… And if it turns up wet, he’ll cope with that, too.”

Back in late April, Sight Winner edged out Egyptian Ra after a Titanic struggle and Egyptian Ra’s trainer, Tony Cruz, is worried that yielding ground or even softer could hamper his chances of winning this race [. . .] .

“He just doesn’t handle cut in the ground. It made him pull up sore after the Champions Mile and he missed out on a trip to the Yasuda Kinen as a result. He’s a great mover and really floats over faster ground and he’s able to run good time on it. He goes well fresh and won first up last year, but I’d be concerned about the track conditions for him if it keeps raining,” Cruz remarked.

Thanks for your comment. With respect to Jockeys & Trainers – this information is contained in our Jockey & Trainer Crosses which are part of our Annual Review 2008/9. The Crosses examine a series of factors, including a jockey’s or trainer’s performance with favourites. As the season progresses we will update these Crosses on a monthly basis. As for “Favourites” – I will be blogging about this topic in the next few days ~ stay tuned! Earl
